Dear sir,
I wish to commend the excellent work By Rotarian Simon Fallis and his colleagues of the Congleton Rotary club. Having read about their work to launch the ‘Green Pledge’
I had the pleasure of meeting the team at the Maker’s Market last weekend. They explained their plan to put the environment at the forefront of all Congleton Residents mind.
I find this sort of work extremely encouraging. Community based work such as this will be the grass roots sort of approach to the change required to tackle the climate and biodiversity emergency.
Rotarian Simon Fallis has worked extremely hard to launch this local campaign. He explained that there are many things we can do on our very own doorstep, such as gardening for wildlife, cutting our consumption, conserving water and campaigning for harmful chemicals to be removed from day to day use.
I am sure The Rotary Club will receive a huge amount of support from local residents. Many people were stopping in the Town Centre to chat and I could see the huge amount of interest in what we can actively do to help the climate and biodiversity crisis. It can feel enormously overwhelming when we think of it on a global scale, but we can act locally and we can unite as a community in order to do so.
Residents that sign up to the pledge will receive monthly news and guidance on a focused topic. It’s a fantastic educational tool. You can now log on to their website to sign the pledge.
Congleton Rotary Club are yet another fine example of a local community based charity who are doing their utmost for the environment. I will support them in any way I can.
Many thanks
Lisa Miller
