Dear Sir,
Happy New Year to everyone and good health for 2023.
With it being the first week in January, I thought it may be helpful to suggest what to do with the unwanted gifts that may have been acquired over Christmas.
I think that it is perfectly fine to not keep hold of unwanted gifts. It is always the thought that counts regarding gifts, however, there is no point hanging onto something that is destined to sit in the cupboard. Not only will those unwanted clothes or gifts become a much loved item for someone else to enjoy, but it will avoid them going to landfill.
There’s a few different methods you can use:
If you were fortunate enough to be given the receipt you can of course return the gift to exchange for something else.
Save the gift and regift it for a birthday or next Christmas.
Sell it. EBay or Facebook marketplace are great ways to sell on unwanted goods at a discount rate or for free.
Donate the gift to charity. Charity shops are always happy to take most good quality gifts, and if they're new they'll go for a higher price. Donating unwanted Christmas presents to charity gives your gift another chance to improve someone else’s life while raising money for a good cause.
Baddeley Green Hedgehog rescue are looking for donations of unwanted gift sets/boxes/ bottles of wine or spirits. They use these to raffle on stalls throughout the year to fund raise for the rescue.
Anyone that has anything to donate please do contact the Facebook page ‘Baddeley Green Hedgehog rescue’ for places you can drop off or may be collected. Any donation will be very gratefully received.
If the gifts are clothing, Congleton Clothes Swap group welcome donations of clothes that can simply be given away. They can be posted on their page to find them a new home.
Congleton Toy Recycling Scheme will also welcome free unwanted toys for children of all ages. Again, items can be posted on the page to find the toys a new home. Second hand toys are also very much welcomed.
Many thanks
